(Coming Soon to East Ft. Lauderdale:  Chipotle Mexican Grill & Pei Wei Asian Diner)

The 'fast-casual' dining movement is still marching on.  East Ft. Lauderdale's first Chipolte & Pei Wei restaurants are under construction and moving along nicely.  Located on US1, between Oakland Park Blvd and Sunrise Blvd, the restaurants will be located inside of a newly built building.  The spot was once occupied by Lone Star steakhouse and that building was torn down about a month ago.

Zona Fresca is almost directly across the street from the future Chipolte and I'm sure they are not going to roll out the welcome wagon.  Zona Fresca is similar in concept...fresh fast-food Mexican style.  I'm sure there is room for both places.  Pei Wei is owned by the same restaurant group as P.F. Changs and it's their 'fast-casual' version of Chinese/Asian food.  They call it an 'Asian Diner'. 

The whole strip mall seems to be getting a face lift as well.  Let's hope they keep getting the tenants.
