FTLToday Quik Bite: Texas Hold 'Em BBQ- Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
On the way back home from a trip down South (Aventura actually), I happen to remember about a BBQ place in Downtown Ft. Lauderdale that has gotten some good reviews. Texas Hold 'Em BBQ recently moved to a new location close to the Broward County Courthouse in the hopes to bring their high-quality BBQ to a new area.

You can't miss the building...it's just off of Andrews Ave on SW 7th Street. The building is set up to look like a barn and has plenty of picnic tables outside to enjoy your food. While a little hot in the summer...this would be perfect in fall thru spring. The inside is pretty basic. A counter where you place your order...and a counter seating type set-up.

The food didn't take long to prepare. We opted to order a Whole Slab Spare-Rib dinner. You have your choice of two small or two large sides. We went for the large sides. The meal was $28 plus tax. They serve everything from BBQ Spare Ribs, Baby Backs, Chicken, Brisket and even some fried seafood. The sides offered ensures everyone can find one they like. We went for the french fries and collard greens. We got the food to go:

The ribs were cooked perfectly and while there were a few fatty pieces, there was a lot of meat on 'em. They had a nice smokey flavor and were actually covered with a 'dry rub'. That way you can put on as much BBQ sauce as you like. Jeff loved the collard greens (I'm not a fan of anyone's collard greens). I'm guessing because they used real bacon in 'em. The fries were good too...not 'seasoned' or 'coated'. Good 'ole french fries. It's hard to find them these days.
It was a great value and we actually had food for two days. Their website says that they are planning a 2nd location on US1 in the Wolfe Camera Plaza (US1 and Sunrise Blvd). I've seen the sign, but am not sure if they are open yet.
