The local Mall has always been a teen hangout since as long as I can remember. But times change and so do the trouble many teens get into at the Mall. Starting this week..any child under the age of 18, that wishes to visit the Aventura Mall (the huge mall in Aventura, FL..just north of Miami) on Friday or Saturday night after 9:30 PM, MUST have a parental 'escort'.

This decision comes on the heels of a teenage brawl about a month ago in front of the AMC movie theater in Aventura. 12 teens were arrested. Many malls around the US are now adopting this policy and they feel it's the right thing to do. Most stores close around 9:30 PM and the only businesses open are restaurants and the movie theater. Many adults are happy to see this new rule and hope they can 'take their Malls back'. Many malls have great restaurants and adults tend to stay away when these large groups of teens are hanging around. I'm sure businesses are also happy about the policy too…hoping to see more 'date night' low-key adults taking in a movie and dinner….and less teen fights and disruptions.

Finally…maybe we can get some piece and quiet after paying for our $10 movie.
