Aldi 'Grocery Store' opens in Deerfield Beach, FL
(Aldi Grocery Store - Deerfield Beach, FL)
The new Aldi Grocery Store opened this week in Deerfield Beach, FL and is hoping to bring more low-cost options to shoppers. Billed as a 'discount grocery store', they save money on operations and pass them on to us...the customer. They keep their stores on the smaller side, which allows for less overhead for employees. They stick mostly to their own brand of groceries (but there are some name brands to be found), and the displays are not really 'beautified' and left simple (most are just stacked with open boxes). To use a grocery cart, you must give a $.25 deposit (you get your quarter back at the end of your shopping trip.) They also charge a fee if you don't have your own bags (many grocery stores are starting that now).
Upon entering the store, we were greeted by a few employees. They explained to new shoppers the whole 'cart deposit' system and also mentioned that they took cash, debit and EBT...but did NOT take credit cards. Upon entering the store, you notice that it's not a large store. I'd say it's maybe 1/2 the size of a Publix store (maybe a little less). The store was bright, clean and everything was clearly marked. The aisles were wide enough to navigate (even with a walker...which is great for this part of town).
They have just about everything you can think of...snacks, main staples, produce, fresh meat (I was surprised at that)..a full frozen food section and lots more. I'd say that Aldi is somewhere between a Publix/Winn Dixie and a Dollar Store. While the prices are not as low as a dollar store...you can get better quality here. If you are used to your Publix...Aldi might not be the one stop shop for you. I don't know how good their brands are at Aldi...but we bought a few things to try and it only cost $5.65:
-2 packages of english muffins
-1 pack grape tomatoes
-snack water crackers
-large bag of wavy potato chips
The produce looked pretty good too with some great prices. It's a great place to shop if you are on a budget and don't mind sifting through the merchandise for some good deals.
(Aldi checkout lanes...strange cashier registers)

Aldi has the best prices anywhere. The fruits and vegetables are excellent and about 1/3 the price elsewhere.

I shop Aldi's in Jestetten, Germany. You did not list opening and closing hours for your store. This artical does not tell much about the shopping experience of going
