FTLToday Quik Bite: Georgi's Alibi - Wilton Manors, FL.

(Georgi's Alibi - Wilton Manors - side patio dining to left)

I finally made it to Georgi's Alibi in Wilton Manors to try 'The Champ' burger.  What is 'The Champ' you ask?  It's Georgi's Alibi's now signature burger that won FIRST prize in the Riverwalk Trust Burger Battle 2010.  There were some heavy hitters at that competition...so I was expecting a great burger.

The place is a bar/restaurant type place with more of an emphasis of bar as evening approaches.  We hit the place at about 11:30 AM to ensure we could get a seat on the patio (the weather was PERFECT today).  We were lucky and got a seat in a 'swing' table (you see them all over now...but they are still cool).  The menu consists of sandwiches, burgers, fried foods, salads and some main 'entrees'.

I want for 'The Champ Burger', cooked medium.  The Champ comes with American Cheese, Caramelized Onions and Chipotle Aioli and served on a Brioche bum (at least I think it was a Brioche bun).  Jeff went for the 'Perfectly Fried Chicken Lunch Entree' (they also had a 'dinner portion for slightly more money).

Happy Hour was on...but only 2 for 1 hard liquor.  Jeff's beer wasn't 2 for 1 (he wasn't too happy about that).  Our server was new and needed to sharpen his skills a bit...but overall he was pretty good.  The food wasn't rushed out either, but being such a nice day....we really didn't notice.

The Champ Burger arrived and I must say....I think it lived up to all the hype.  The burger itself was pretty big and the bun, while it looked like it was going to be a little hard/stale...was the perfect softness.  I ordered the burger 'medium'.  I crossed my fingers and cut the burger in half.  WOW!  Perfectly cooked!  When I picked it up to take a bite...the juice dripped down my hand.  Yes...I said 'juice'.  It wasn't greasy and it was actually pink burger juice!  The onions could have been a little more 'caramelized'...but they were still good.  The chipotle aioli was just spicy enough.  The fries were 'ok'.  I'd probably go for the onion rings next time.

('The Champ' Burger - perfectly cooked to medium temperature.)

Jeff's fried chicken was a whole breast...served on some mashed potatoes topped with gravy.  It was a little 'overdone' on the edges, so he couldn't finish the whole thing.  The potatoes were 'warm' so he didn't eat much of them.  The cole slaw was good, but very 'wet'. He was so mad that he didn't order 'The Camp'.

Overall...I would give 'The Champ' a solid 'A'.  It's worth the $10 price tag and would get it again in a snap.  Jeff won't get the chicken again...but he's going to get 'The Champ' for sure.  I bet all of their burgers are very good...so I would suggest you stop in if you are on a quest to find that 'perfect' burger.
