(Texas Hold 'Em BBQ - Sunrise and US1)

A few month back, I did a 'Quick Bite' review on the Texas Hold 'Em BBQ restaurant in Downtown Ft. Lauderdale.  It was a great spot to get your BBQ fix.  Well, they have been working on opening a second location a little further north on US1.  Located in the strip mall on the corner of US1 and Sunrise (by the Wolf Camera Store), this second location is now open.

The original location is more of a 'take-out' vibe with some places to sit outside and some stools inside.  This new location is the owners entrance into the 'full service' restaurant territory.  The place is stylish and clean.  There is a full bar to sit and catch the game and plenty of tales around too.  We stopped in to place a take-out order...and it seemed to catch them 'off-guard'.  We didn't wait long to place the order and the food came up quite fast.  We ordered the same meal as we did at the other location.  One slab of spare ribs with 2 large sides (collard greens and french fries). 

The prices are the same in both locations.  That is where the similarity ends.  The ribs were still pretty good...a little tougher than we had at the Downtown location...but still pretty good.  The greens were 'good'.  The french fries?  Well...let's just say that the container was 1/2 full.  The other location packed the container so full...you couldn't close it without a staple.  Consistency is the first rule in the restaurant business.  While I understand that you are trying for a more 'restaurant' feel...don't skimp on the food and make it the same as you do in your original location.

We'll go back to Texas Hold 'Em...but to the location Downtown....and give this location a few more months to iron things out.
