Discovery Cruise Line to shut down September 6.

The low-cost Discovery Cruise LIne has been in financial trouble for some time. It was first reported a few months ago that they will be taking their only ship...the Discovery Sun out of service for some needed repairs in September...then said it would discontinue the route due to a 'lack of popularity'. Now it's said that Discovery Cruise Line will be selling the Discovery Sun with no word on where the ship will be docked. The company will stop cruising September 6.
Discovery Cruise Lines offers day trips to the Bahamas from Ft. Lauderdale. Trips leave Ft. Lauderdale in the morning and return at night. The travel time is about 5 hours each way and the ship offers entertainment and dining options. You also have the opportunity to stay a few days on the Bahamas and catch the Discovery Sun back on a different day.
I've never been on the boat...but I'm thinking that many people don't want to spend 10 hours on such a small boat with limited activities. Getting to the Bahamas and only having a few hours to play is another negative ding for this cruise.
I guess the new company buying the ship might renovate and start another itinerary in South Florida...but no news has been released yet.
