Ft. Lauderdale/Las Olas gets iced.
Ft. Lauderdale will soon see it's first 'ice themed' restaurant. David Berman, co-owner of the new Tundra restaurant to open soon on Las Olas, says this will be the first restaurant to pair ice and food in this unique way. Berman also owns Sculptured Ice Creations so he is quite familiar and at home dealing with everything ice. Currently under construction, the plans are to open in October. The building is located directly on Las Olas (1017 E. Las Olas Blvd) and will give locals and visitors another new unique spot to check out.
Ice Bars are currently popping up all over the US. Las Vegas has a few….Miami and Orlando both have one and there is also an Ice Bar on the NCL Epic cruise ship. While themed in ice, these venues are entirely made of ice and require visitors to wear jackets and gloves and do not serve food. Tundra is taking this experience to a new level. You won't have to sport a parka to eat here. The inside of the restaurant will not be too cold for customers and will mimic the landscape of a natural tundra. Ice sculptures will be throughout the restaurant along with other 'ice made' items, such as dishes and flatware. Hot and Cold food will be on the menu along with a full bar.
This sounds very interesting and I'm sure there will be a lot of buzz when Tundra first opens. Let's hope the décor, food and service (and price point) keep people interested. It's nice to see some unique places opening here in Ft. Lauderdale.
