Want to really impress your out of state visitors with some terrific waterfront dining? Then visit Anglins’ Beach Café located at the entrance of the Lauderdale-by-the-Sea Pier. While there is a small charge to walk to the end of the fishing pier itself, the restaurant has the exact same beach views with no additional cost. We stopped in for breakfast on a Saturday Morning and really liked it.
Anglins’ Beach Café is not that large, so we imagine it fills up quickly during peak times. With its prime beach locations comes the dreaded metered parking – so make sure plan ahead. We’ve seen plenty of parking enforcement vehicles on our past visits. Most of the café seating is outside and with views like this, why would you want to eat inside. The deck holds lots of seating and we got to pick our own table.
The breakfast menu at Anglins’ Beach Café highlights organic ingredients and you can find all the diner favorites. Service was quicker than we expected and our server was really friendly and helpful through breakfast. The view alone is hard to beat and you never know what to expect at the beach restaurants. We relaxed a bit and enjoyed the waves and our food was out in maybe 15 minutes.
Two Organic Eggs, Bacon, Organic Hash Browns and toast ($10.00). The eggs were fresh and cooked as ordered (over medium) and the bacon was really good. Even though the menu stated Applewood Smoked Bacon, you don’t expect the beach restaurants to have thicker sliced, full flavor bacon. Four large slices came with my breakfast, but Jeff looked disappointed that his 2-2-2 only came with two, so I gave him one slice. The hash browns were tasty and just the right portion.
The Double P 222 ($10.00). 2 Pancakes, 2 eggs, 2 bacon (or 2 sausage). The eggs were sunny-side-up as ordered, but the white was a little overdone on one edge. Not that big of a deal to Jeff. The pancakes were big and fluffy and good. Two strips of bacon were plenty with this dish, but since I gave Jeff an additional slice, he chose to leave some pancake behind.
It seems that there are more breakfast restaurants in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea lately and Anglins’ is the only one that is directly on the beach. You can’t beat the views and our server and food was really good. They do seem to over-use the term ‘organic’ on the menu and to tell you the truth, we can’t really tell the difference between an organic egg and a regular egg. That aside, the prices were way more reasonable than expected too and we’d definitely return.
As a note, the menu states that an 18% Gratuity is added for parties of 1 or more. But the receipt says gratuity was not included. We’re not exactly sure if they enforce the gratuity rule. But luckily those parties of “less than one” do not even need to worry.
Anglin’s Beach Café is located at 2 Commercial Blvd Lauderdale By the Sea FL 33308.
