Bagel Hut in Coconut Creek is one of those little diner/bagel restaurants that seem to be all around South Florida.  We went in for breakfast and found a fresh looking place with warm friendly service.

The long narrow dining area consists of a bar with some stools along with lots of tables along the wall.  The cash register in front also serves at the carry out counter and the bagel display.  The walls were freshly painted and the art on the walls also looked new (and some of our favorite IKEA selections).  Overall it’s a comfortable looking place and has a very ‘local’ vibe.

Our server was really nice and got our drinks as we looked over the menu.  Your standard diner fare is served here from eggs to pancakes to omelets.  The wait wasn’t long maybe 10-15 at the most and we had our breakfast in front of us and they even dropped off some fresh yellow cake pieces to munch on.

I ordered two eggs over hard with bacon, hash browns and a bialy ($6.60). The server did warn me that the hash browns were like a patty from McDonald’s but that didn’t discourage me.  I’m glad I did because it was simple and fresh out of the fryer.  It was just what I wanted.  The eggs were fresh and cooked perfectly ‘over medium’ and not too greasy.  The bacon could have used a little help thought.  It was on the thin side and like most places, premade and kept warm making it a little dried out.

We both really liked the bialy and it was super fresh and lightly toasted.  It had more of an onion flavor than others we’ve had and that’s maybe why we liked it so much.  They give you a bowl with cream cheese, butter and jelly so you can choose your own concoction of toppings.

Jeff ordered the Greek Omelet ($7.25) with home fries and a bialy.  The omelet was really good and all the ingredients were mixed into the egg giving you some in every bite.  They really loaded it with spinach which he liked and there were some big pieces of feta cheese that was impressive.  The home fries were fresh and were your standard chunks of potato with onions and red spices.

The service at Bagel Hut in Coconut Creek was warm, friendly and attentive which really elevates our overall view of the place.  We liked our breakfast overall which means we will be returning to Bagel Hut and maybe I will swap the bacon for sausage or ham.

Those meals look delicious. I have never heard of the term bialy before. It looks very similar to a bagel.
