We wanted to see if the other Dandee Donut Factory in Deerfield Beach was like the one we had visited in Pompano Beach. As soon as we arrived, we found a more comfortable restaurant, a friendlier staff and an overall more enjoyable breakfast.
Dandee Donut Factory in Deerfield Beach is located on US1 looks similar from the outside as the location in Pompano, without the outside seating. Inside, the restaurant is clean and offers counter seating along with plenty of tables and lots of windows that brightens up the place quite a bit. Signs and menus look new and all the tables were set up and ready for customers and TV’s were set to the news.
The donuts looked “picture perfect” all lined up and ready to be boxed and taken home, but we were there for a hot breakfast and made our way to the counter.
Our server came over immediately to take our drink orders and was very friendly and welcoming. We looked over the menu, which was set up a bit different than the other Dandee location, but the items listed seemed to be very similar. We asked our server about the Pompano location and she informed us that they are no longer owned by the same people. Of the two, we liked this location much more because of the friendly service.
Jeff thought they scored extra points for offering a unique hot sauce that he hadn’t seen before and couldn’t wait to use it on his omelet. The restaurant wasn’t that busy this morning, so our food came out rather quickly.
The Greek Omelet with home fries and a croissant ($7.99) – 3 eggs, feta cheese, tomatoes, spinach and onion. The omelet was filled with fresh veggies and the overall look of it was much more appealing than we experienced at the Pompano location. The home fries were really good too, cooked in olive oil and lightly seasoned making them seem a bit light and healthier.
2 eggs (over hard) with ham, home fries and a croissant ($5.99). The eggs were fresh and came out as ordered. They were a little more cooked than some places, but I didn’t mind.
The ham was your standard thin packaged deli slice, but for the price it’s a good value and next time I’d try the sausage or bacon. The croissant was amazing and made in house. Flaky and buttery, they cut it in half and lightly grilled it making it impossible not to finish the whole thing.
Service was spot on and very friendly and prices were reasonable. While you won’t get the most amazing breakfast ever, it’s a good local spot to pop in and grab some good food and get a fresh donut. We are going to have to go back to try some of the these donuts too as I noticed a cream cheese donut that looked exactly like the ones my Grandma used to get for us growing up.
