We’re heading to west Coral Springs this morning to a small breakfast place off Wiles Road called D’Apple Café. D’Apple Café has been open for six years in Coral Springs and is a family run diner.  The name comes from combining the owners Mother’s love for apples and her name “Debbie”, which obviously is what the “D” stands for.

The inside is long and narrow and has a very ‘country’ feel.  There are two TV’s that had the news on each enclosed in an ‘apple’ frame.  We chose our seat and were immediately greeted.  Light wood and some ‘mis-matched’ tables in back gave it a unique country kitchen look.  This place is loaded with little knick knacks and we were amazed on how spotless and clean this place was.  Seriously, we couldn’t find any dust on anything, even including the A/C vents on the ceiling.  This place is our #1 choice for cleanliness of any restaurant in Fort Lauderdale.

The menu is your typical comfort food diner fare with some specials on the wipe board in front.  The menu item names were unique and went with the name of the place.  Three egg omelets, eggs Benedict, biscuits and gravy, pancakes…it was all here.  I ordered D’Two egg breakfast (over easy) with bacon and hash browns (they have home fries as well).  Jeff ordered the D’Hillbilly Breakfast – two eggs (over medium), one biscuit with sausage gravy and bacon.

Looking around you can see this is quite the family run business.  I think they had everyone in the family on staff, which seemed to work very well here.  The staff was very warm and friendly which added to good experience we were having.  The food didn’t take that long to come out and we couldn’t wait to dig in.

My D’Two Egg Breakfast was a solid choice.  Eggs were cooked perfectly ‘over medium’.  The toast was freshly out of the toaster and the hash browns were a generous portion of potato goodness.  They could have been crisped up just a tad more…but they still were on point.  The bacon was of the thinner variety, but packed with flavor.  The bacon was a bit on the ‘salty’ side so three strips were plenty.  We did like to see that the bacon was cooked to order and not old (that you get on some places).

D’Hillbilly Breakfast looked very impressive.  The gravy portion was very large and while it looked a little off color then we’re use too, it was one of the best we’ve had.  It was fresh and full of chunks of sausage.  The chunks were hard to see in the gravy, but trust us…it’s there.  We couldn’t really determine if the biscuits were made in house or not, but covered in that gravy it didn’t matter to us.  Jeff’s eggs were done perfectly and his bacon was also cooked to order.  Jeff also gives them an A+ for the great bacon.

We really liked D’Apple Café and plan on a return visit soon to this Coral Springs diner.  We’re even trying to time a lunch visit as a few items caught our eye.  One thing to note is that they are closed on Monday’s and only open for Breakfast and Lunch Tuesday – Sunday.  Also, breakfast is served all day.
