Evergreen Buffet & Grill is a new Asian buffet restaurant in The Villages, FL that offers a huge selection that covers all the bases. The owners also have a take-out restaurant a bit east of this location, so they know a thing or two about running a restaurant.
When we arrived at my parent’s house, got in the golf cart and took off for lunch. Yup, everything is accessible via golf cart in The Villages and that’s part of what makes the area so unique and fun. There is a separate road system filled with tunnels just for golf cart traffic and this was our first trip we got use of the cart (thanks for the rental Mom & Dad!).
We arrived at Evergreen Buffet & Grill maybe around 1 PM on a Saturday and they had a decent amount of customers. The décor was your typical Asian buffet style, very clean with all new booths and tables. The buffet was located to the back of the restaurant and set up in different stations and we were greeted right away. We ordered waters and were told to help ourselves.
The buffet line had a familiar set up and we walked through first to take inventory. The first station consisted of cold salad items that looked very fresh, but I’m all for the hot stuff. Along the back they have some sushi with a good assortment of rolls.
Next to that, there was all kind of vegetables that you can pick out for the hibachi grill. Yes, you can have your stir-fry customized at the hibachi grill and it was open at lunch. This is a great value and you can’t get it fresher than that.
The tables in the middle of the buffet consisted of the Asian staples and were arranged in appetizers and main course types. Egg rolls/spring rolls, soups, pot stickers were tasty and they seemed to keep them rotated and hot.
The sautéed button mushrooms were outstanding along with the huge fried chicken wings. The General Tso chicken could have used a bit more kick, but tasted pretty good and the burbon chicken was the perfect balance of sweet to salty. They had beef, chicken and shrimp dishes along with some fish items. I can’t list them all.
We were all stuffed and after two trips we were done. We enjoyed the buffet and found that all the items we tried were really good. We liked that they were constantly monitoring the food on the buffet and changing things out regularly. We also discovered that they do offer a regular menu, maybe mostly for take-out and they do offer a ‘to-go’ buffet with one trip through. We are sure that Evergreen Buffet & Grill will be quite popular and have a bright future here.
