While the Flavor’s Caribbean Restaurant location isn’t the best, this small Jamaican restaurant in Deerfield Beach manages to keep their prices low while still serving some large, tasty portions.  Today a co-worker and I went to here for lunch for their great $5.99 lunch special.  Jerk chicken, beans and rice, cabbage and a drink all for $5.99.  The location is in a tiny strip off SE 10th street and you might just pass it by if you were not looking for it.  Parking was quick and easy and there was a short line inside.

I’ve heard they recently expanded, adding a small dining area to the left as you walk in.  Flavor’s Caribbean is a clean restaurant with fast-casual service.  Most of the items are kept behind the counter and they spoon up your choice as you go through the line.  The jerk chicken and fried chicken are kept in the kitchen, which I liked to see.  The line moved quickly and we both ordered the $5.99 jerk chicken special.  We added on two fried dumplings to try as well.

Drinks range from bottled water to soda to Jamaican drinks and you grab the one you want.  They also have your other Jamaican staples like ox tail, goat, curries and such.

We chose to eat there, so we made our way to the dining area.  A bit dimly lit, but functional and actually nicely decorated.  They had a small TV which had tennis on at the moment, but nobody was really watching.  The dining room was clean and everything still looked new.

The portion of the lunch was quite large.  The rice was really good and not overcooked or dried out at all.  The jerk chicken was cut up into pieces, so be prepared to get a bit messy if you want to get all the meat off the bone.  The chicken was really good with a nice gilled flavor that complimented the jerk seasoning.  It wasn’t a spicy ‘hot’ jerk, but rather a mild grilled version that went really nicely with the extra sauce they put on top.

The sauce was almost like a sweet BBQ mixed with jerk seasoning.  The cabbage was fresh, but a little on the bland side.  We both tried the fried dumpling and found it too dense and chewy to really enjoy.

Flavor’s Caribbean is a great place for a quick lunch or place to eat in Deerfield beach and you really can’t beat the price.  Service is friendly and they also take credit cards. Flavor’s Caribbean Restaurant is located at 107 SE 10th Street, Deerfield Beach FL.
