Another road trip to Central Florida means new restaurants for us to explore. Gators Dockside recently opened in the new Brownwood Town Square in The Villages and is already a local favorite.

Gator’s Dockside is the area’s answer to the sports bar concept with lots of TVs around the inside of the dining room, each with a sign telling you what game is on. The inside has a very ‘college sports bar’ feel with wood tones and green walls. It’s clean and everything still looks new, so it’s a great place to hang out with some friends. Our only complaint is the direct florescence lighting. It gave it a cafeteria feel.

We chose to sit outside to enjoy the cool weather (and listen to the live band down the street) near the indoor/outdoor bar. There aren’t any TVs outside, but we could see a few from our table through the bar section. Our server was quick to greet us and take orders with our food also arriving quickly.

Six (6) Wings (Bone-In) with Lemon a Pepper Sauce ($5.69)- The wings were not as large as some places, more average sized. They were fresh from the kitchen and the sauce was really good. Their version of lemon pepper is actually a mixture of mild buffalo and lemon pepper. Our server mentioned it to us when we ordered, just so we were not caught off guard. Overall for the price, we enjoyed the wings.

Stuffed Jalapeno Burger ($10.79) – Fresh burger stuffed with jalapeno cream cheese, topped with pepper jack cheese and bacon. Jeff immediately saw this on the menu. I don’t know how he spots these menu items in seconds after his first glance, but it seems to work well for him.

The burger was huge and came just as described. He thought it could have used more jalapeno, but some added hot sauce did the trick. This is NOT a diet burger and was quite filling. The fries were just ok, not our favorite frozen variety.

Gators Dockside is a great spot to get your bar food fix while watching the game.  Happy Hour specials keep the place busy which means reasonably priced food and drinks. Our service was spot on and we will be back.
