Giraffas is a recent US import from Brazil. This fast casual restaurant seems to be opening all over South Florida and we stopped into the new Fort Lauderdale location on North Andrews Ave just north of Cypress Creek Rd.

Pulling up we were quite impressed with this new ‘Strip Mall’ with quite a few new fast casual spots to eat. This was Giraffa’s Grand Opening weekend at this location so we were interested to see how they execute service.

Walking into this place, it looks fresh, clean and modern. It actually reminded me of a restaurant you would see at Disney or Vegas … very cool.  We were comfortable and were happy to see that the restrooms were spotless. A play on the name there is art work of giraffes through the restaurant, on the walls and even in their logo.

This is a fast casual place, so you place the order at the counter and they bring your food out once its ready.  We were immediately greeted by everyone at the front counter. They went over them menu. Burgers, Steaks, Stroganoffs and salads are the main staple with some appetizers. The menu is actually quite large and impressive.

First order was the 5.3 oz Picanha Steak Burger with fries and a soda. We added an appetizer of chicken “ribs” as well. The chicken ribs consist of the ‘flat’ portion of he wing with one of the bones removed. It was priced well and they were very tasty. A slight crisp outside and tender meat. They offer some dipping sauce as well. He burger was good … but we found it a bit dry. They have a few other burgers on the menu and we would try one of those next time.

The second order was the 5 oz Miminha Steak with fries, mixed grilled veggies and Brazilian black eyed peas. The steak was a little tough, but we found it satisfying and full of grilled flavor. Not a bad piece of meat for the price. The grilled veggies were awesome.  I could have gone for a whole plate. Why don’t mine at home taste so good?  The Brazilian Black Eyed Peas were chilled and very good. Seasoned and kind of like a salad/salsa, I would get these again.

Overall, we liked our meals at Giraffas. We also liked the discount they gave on opening weekend that was 50% off of all entrees. We love a deal. We will definitely go back and have Giraffas on our list for great fast casual fare.

That looks delicious! Are they a franchise? I wonder if they are anywhere outside of Florida? What an awesome deal 50% off!

Looks like you’ll have to move back to Florida to visit one of these. They’re only in Orlando and South Florida for now….and Brazil.
