Blink and you might just drive right by JoJo’s Café and Restaurant in Deerfield Beach. JoJo’s Café is a small breakfast/lunch spot right on US1 that also delivers. The entrance of the restaurant is not actually facing US1, it faces the parking lot which is to the side of the building. It’s attached to what looks like an old motel converted to office space, which means they have plenty of room for parking.
JoJo’s Cafe kind of reminds me of those cafés you find in a large office building on the ground floor. They are fast and convenient making it a great spot for someone on the go. The restaurant looks freshly painted and they have a large covered outdoor patio with lots of tables. Walking up, the patio was quite busy and I preferred being inside of the Air Conditioning. The inside is narrow with some stool seating in the front and a few round tables to the back. The ordering counter is immediately to your left when you walk in.
I was immediately greeted when I walked in by the friendly staff behind the counter. The restaurant menu was all along the top of the counter and it’s actually very large. They told me to take my time and look over the menu. They do serve breakfast all day, but I was in the mood for lunch. The lunch menu consists of everything from salads to burgers to hot and cold sandwiches. They say all items are made fresh every day and they even make their chicken soup fresh daily (I’m trying it on my next visit). I settled on the chicken sandwich (you can get it grilled, bbq, teriyaki, blackened). The person taking my order pointed out their Grilled Ranch Chicken Sandwich special on the board. The sandwich is made with grilled chicken breast, bacon, cheese and ranch dressing. The special also comes with either fries of slaw…I picked fries. I added a bottled water to drink and the total came to just over $10. They do take credit cards and they told me to take a seat and they would bring my lunch to my table when it’s ready.
I took a seat at one of the round tables and relaxed while I waited. They had a large selection of drinks in the coolers next to me and the place was actually quite busy. It didn’t take long at all for my lunch order and she brought it right over.
The chicken breast was larger than I was expecting and the bacon looked pretty good. The tomato and lettuce were fresh and chilled and the cheese was perfectly melted. The Kaiser roll was fresh and I would bet they got it delivered this morning. The chicken was grilled perfectly and not dry at all. It was still quite hot but I powered through it. The fries were a little too salty (I was drinking glasses of water shortly after lunch) and the portion was very small. I’d maybe try another side here on a future visit.
The service here was really good and everyone was super friendly. I’d try them again…maybe for breakfast review too, but would skip the fries.
