Among the recent restaurants popping up in Wilton Manors, FL, Mind Your Manors is the newest and seems to be doing a lot right.  In what was once a Mexican/Taco Restaurant, they quickly found their place on The Drive and offer some great food and drink specials.  We recently stopped in for a bite for lunch and found not only good food, but some really great service as well.

The brick exterior of Mind Your Manors makes a nice impact on The Drive and surely stands out from the rest of the strip mall.  Walking up you notice that Mind Your Manors is utilizing their space well with more outside seating than most spots on Wilton Drive.  The bar is positioned to be both inside the restaurant and outside, allowing some to take advantage of the Florida weather.  It was around lunchtime and we found a spot inside at the bar and ordered a few drinks for happy hour.  The inside consists of mostly dark wood shelving behind with bar with liquor bottles artfully stacked with an occasional Buddha statue.  The main part of the dining room had an industrial feel with steel walls and some modern artwork.  It’s a really nice look.

We sat at the bar and the bartender/server was right there to take our drink order and give us menus.  The menu at Mind Your Manors consists of appetizers, salads, sandwiches and of course burgers.  They had the usual sounding suspects like Stuffed Mushrooms, Cheese Steak and the Classic Burger.  Look a bit closer and you will find some twists and turns you might not expect like Black Bean Hummus, Soft Shell Crab Sandwich and Buffalo Chicken Po Boy.  We were in the mood to split a sandwich and I knew what Jeff’s vote would be as soon as I read it on the menu.  We placed our order with the bartender, he verified we were splitting it and the sandwich came out in about 15 minutes.

Blackened Prime Rib Sandwich ($14) substituted tater bombs for fries ($1 upcharge) – Slow roasted Prime Rib, blacked with our house made blackening spice and served on a French roll with garlic mayo and kale blend greens.  When the food came out, the sandwich was already cut in half and on two separate plates!  We love when a server and kitchen communicate this well and take the time to do things like this.  The prime rib was amazingly tender and not full of fat and grizzle like you see at some places.  Cooked to a perfect medium (as requested), it was a really good cut of meat.

The blackening spice was milder than expected, but it let the sandwich shine.  The garlic mayo was the right condiment that added another layer and we really liked the soft French roll.  The greens were really fresh too making this an overall great choice.  The tater bombs were in the shape of croquettes and were actually house made tater tots.  Crisp on the outside and soft on the inside these were really good.  They were slightly seasoned and probably one of the best ‘house made’ tots we’ve had.

The bartender/server was spot on through lunch and even brought us some waters without asking.  It was a very enjoyable lunch and we will definitely return.
