The new Silverspot Cinema in The Promenade at Coconut Creek has been open for about a month now and we headed over to check it out.

Silverspot Cinema

Located near the restaurant hub of the complex, the building is sharp looking on the outside and quite modern and trendy on the inside. They have a full bar and a full service restaurant with some seating outside on the patio. The prices looked a bit higher than most of the other restaurants in The Promenade, but then again, this is a movie theater.

The restaurant is bright and full of windows allowing for a nice airy feel during the day. The lobby is a bit smaller than most larger cinemas, but Silverspot is known for its upscale feel and look.

Buying our tickets online was a snap, but you need to take note of your confirmation number. (The kiosk in the lobby asks for your rewards card or your confirmation number to print your tickets.) We went for the 11:30 AM showing of Jurassic World in 3D and one adult ticket costs $13.00. (Non 3D movies run $11.00 for afternoon showings.)

The concession stand was getting some new snazzy LCD screens to display the menu, so it was in a bit of disarray (they were up and running by the time the movie was over). They have some hot food selections and we decided to get some lunch snacks. We ordered Burger Sliders, Chicken Fingers and two bottled waters. That set us back about $27.00. Not cheap…but most movie theater food is high priced, so we were not surprised. They gave us a buzzer to let us know when the food was ready and it took maybe 15 minutes.

Sliders – Three come in an order and no sides are included. The burgers were actually quite good. The pickle chip and sauce tied it together well and we liked the soft bun.

Chicken Fingers – Four come in an order and fries are included. Hot out of the fryer, we found the chicken crisp but a bit salty. They are your generic chicken finger found in most restaurants and felt that the price warranted a higher quality item. The fries were a bit overdone, but Jeff liked the salt and pepper the added and felt it was a nice touch.

The seats at Silverspot are assigned (picked when you buy the tickets) and we were on one of the larger auditoriums. We loved the extra large seats and they were so comfy. They don’t recline, but that might be good, since you’d probably fall asleep!  Lots of leg room and the full leather texture really give it that upscale feel.

Sound was excellent as was the picture. We do suggest that they play some music before the previews as it was eerily quiet. All of the employees were friendly and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed.

Silverspot Cinema in The Promenade at Coconut Creek is a great fit for the area and we think it will do quite well. The movie ticket price is on point, but we do think the food prices should be re-evaluated as they seemed just a bit too high.  We will definite be back to catch a movie and might even splurge and try something from the restaurant.

Silverspot Cinima is located at the corner of Lyons Road and Wiles Road in Coconut Creek FL.
