We recently stopped into Scarfone’s Coal Fired Pizza in Wilton Manors and tried a slice of pepperoni pizza. The new Italian restaurant just opened a few weeks ago and we were very curious to see what the inside looked like and to review their pizza. And perfect timing for us too on this rainy weekend because the showers stopped just in time for us to run to the restaurant.
Scarfone’s Coal Fired Pizza has a prime location on Wilton Drive and their inside décor is impressive. It’s very modern and is easily the nicest Italian restaurant on The Drive. The tile work complimented the red accents and we both really liked the look. They weren’t too busy today with only a few people at the bar, so we found a few stools and settled in.
The bartender (also the General Manager) greeted us and was super friendly and took great care of us. We were only there to order a pepperoni slice and sodas, which they got out to us in a flash and the total wait for the pizza was not even five minutes.
The pizza slice was hot out of the oven, the owner said they just made the pie and warned us it might be too hot. Not for us! The piece was big enough to split and it actually gave us each a sizable slice. The crust was crisp and had a slight chew, perfect. It was a little dark, but that’s what happens to it in the coal ovens, it wasn’t burned. The sauce was a little sweeter than most, but they didn’t load it up on the pizza, so it didn’t overpower. The cheese and pepperoni were high quality and the herbs sprinkled on the top finished it off nicely.
We both agreed that we’d be back the next time we were in the area. We also hear the wings are out of this world, so they are also on our ‘must try list’. And the dessert tray looked AMAZING.
Today’s service was top notch and they even kept my umbrella safe when I forgot it at the bar. The two restrooms were unisex, with updated fixtures.
