Tarpon Bend Food & Tackle has a prime spot near downtown Fort Lauderdale in the Himarshee District of Las Olas right on the corner next to the railroad crossing. Weekends are ALWAYS busy but we were lucky to find a couple spots right at the bar.

After all these years of living in Fort Lauderdale, surprisingly this was actually out first time eating here. We wanted to grab a few drinks and a burger before a show at the Broward County Performing Arts Center and we were glad we did. Service was quick and on point and our burger hit the spot.

The inside dining area has lots of seating with a heavy fishing theme.

The craft beer selection wasn’t as large as some other spots, but they had some favorites of ours. It was Happy Hour which meant 2-4-1 drinks, but they use the chip system here. This means you don’t get two drinks at once and you can also take the chip with you to use on another visit (sorry tourists).

The menu has all of your bar favorites from appetizers to sandwiches burgers and some large entrees. We skipped over the salad section and we zeroed in on the burgers. We decided to split the Tarpon Burger cooked medium. The bartender was quite friendly and she even made a note to the kitchen to split it for us! We love seeing a server that really cares about the customers and goes that extra mile to take care of them.

Tarpon Burger ($12) – Applewood smoked bacon, cheddar, tomato, lettuce, onion, pickle, mayo and mustard. The kitchen cut the burger perfectly in half and even gave both of us our own fries.

Cooked to a perfect medium, it was full of flavor and had a char grilled flavor which we really liked. They use good quality bacon and we would definitely order this burger again. The fries were thin cut, like shoestring and were actually quite good as well.

We were glad we finally stopped into Tarpon Bend Food & Tackle and we both wondered what took us so long. They will definitely be on our list of restaurants to revisit in the area.

Tarpon Bend Food & Tackle is located at 200 SW 2nd St Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301.
