We really like Tucker Duke’s Lunchbox in Deerfield (you can read our original review HERE).  We have been back many times and recently stopped in to try their brunch menu.  We arrived on a Sunday, just after 12 noon and we just missed a mini-rush.  We found a seat at the bar and were immediately greeted by our server.

Tucker Dukes Lunchbox is still a new spot and it’s already has a stellar reputation.  The décor is always cool with chalk boards and natural woods and some steel.  The seating is limited with some additional tables outside.

As we looked over the brunch menu, Jeff ordered the Funky Buddha – Fire in the Hole Raspberry Habanero Red Ale (one of his favorites) and I stuck to soda.  I put an order in for the cheese fritters as we looked over the menu.

The brunch menu has a lot of the regular favorites so if you feel like a burger, you don’t miss out.  The brunch section has some unique choices and it was hard to narrow my choice as they all sounded so good.  The King (maple glazed pork bely, banana, peanut butter on toasted brioche) sounded interesting as well as the Biscuits & Gravy made with chorizo.  Jeff went with a burger and I chose a brunch item.  Our appetizer came out quick, maybe 10-15 minutes.

Cheese Fritters ($5) – four cheese, fried with honey mustard dipping sauce.  WOW!  The order comes with four huge fritters and these were screaming hot from the kitchen.  You could smell the caramelized cheese on the outer crust and we couldn’t wait to dig in.  They are crisp on the outside and once you break that crust, you get to the gooey cheese.  This is solid cheese except for the seasoning and maybe scallions (some green herb) and very rich.  You know you are splurging when you take a bite.  The honey mustard dipping sauce was the perfect pairing and we used every drop.  This is definitely an appetizer to share.

The Tucker Duke Burger ($10) – topped with fried onion rings, American cheese, tucker sauce, lettuce and tomato.  They also say there are no substitutions or changes allowed on this burger and we agree.  It’s so good, nothing has to be changed.  Cooked to a perfect medium, the meat is seasoned well and so juicy.  The burger itself takes two hands to maneuver and you will not believe hot tall it is.

All the toppings were fresh and the Tucker Sauce is a must.  The onion rings are good on their own as well as on the burger and Jeff took a few off to save for ‘after the burger’.  This is not even the largest burger!  That burger will have to be tackled on another day.  The price doesn’t include any ‘side items’, but it’s so good and big, you don’t really need them.  We think this is the best burger around.

Seaber’s Chicken & Waffle ($12) – malted waffle, buttermilk fried chicken, real maple syrup, whipped butter.  This was ‘technically’ the only item we had off of the ‘brunch’ menu.  I wanted to try something new and I made a great choice.  Not only did the dish look amazing, it tasted awesome.

The chicken tenders were fresh and hot out of the kitchen.  The coating is savory and went really well with the maple syrup.  The waffles were fluffy and added more comfort to the ultimate brunch comfort food.  The blueberries were a nice touch and they were nice and fresh too.  The portion was big and the flavors matched making this an excellent choice.

Our server was friendly and attentive and the service was perfect.  She saw us taking pictures of the food and mentioned that if we share it on social media, they will give you 10% off of your bill.  We didn’t say we are doing a review, but did mention we posted a pic to Twitter. 🙂
